Oakmoss Essential Oil - Part 3
Abundance
This is the last of our 3-part deep dive into the energetics of oakmoss essential oil. Be sure to check out Part 1 and Part 2 of this series if you missed them. This is the coolest oil—I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Abundance through Commensalism
Oakmoss has an interesting relationship with the oak trees on which it grows. It makes its home on the branches and bark of the European Oak. It depends on the tree for life and support.
Not only does the oak tree provide a physical home where the delicate oakmoss can anchor and grow, it gets it up into the air where it has more access to air and light for photosynthesis. Also benefiting the oakmoss is the absorbent nature of the tree bark. It traps moisture from dew and rain, which helps the lichen stay hydrated.
At first, I thought there must be a symbiotic relationship between oakmoss and its host, the way a clownfish and sea anemone have a mutually beneficial arrangement. With the beautiful oakmoss reaping so many benefits from oak, the tree had to be getting something in return, right?
Wrong.
Oakmoss gives nothing to the tree in return. Nothing. Nada.
That must mean oakmoss is a parasite, right? The way mistletoe steals nutrients and weakens the trees on which it lives.
Wrong again.
While oakmoss does depend on the tree where it resides, it does no harm or damage to that tree.
This type of relationship is known as commensalism.
Isn’t this interesting? Until I found oakmoss, I didn’t even know this type of relationship existed in the plant world.
Energetically, oakmoss represents the purest expression of abundance.
Everything it needs to survive and thrive is freely provided by the universe—by the oak, by the air, by the rain. It receives without taking. It is supported without guilt.
I’m not going to write an article on Abundance Theory (I’m pretty sure there are at least 10,000 Instagram accounts already doing this), but I am going to highlight a very common limiting belief around abundance, which is:
If I get what I want, it means there is less out there for someone else.
Oakmoss shows us this is not true. You can be abundant—you can receive what you need to thrive and survive—without anyone or anything else getting hurt in the process. Use this oil to help you sooth any anxiety or scarcity you may have around abundance.
Maybe you run a business in a highly competitive industry. Finding new customers or creating new market share doesn’t mean you’re hurting anyone else, or taking much-needed abundance away from a competitor. Oakmoss reminds us: your gain does not equal someone else’s loss.
Oakmoss shows us that abundance is commensal. Ask oakmoss to help you release any limiting beliefs you may have around your ability to call in prosperity with ease and integrity. Let it help you root into the truth: there is enough.
Are you as excited about oakmoss oil as I am? How do you plan to use it in your emotional and spiritual work?
Where to buy Oakmoss Essential Oil
Oakmoss is a little more esoteric in the essential oil world. I buy mine from Mountain Rose Herbs, an independently owned company in Oregon. Their products are beautiful and of the highest quality!
