Ledum Essential Oil - Part 2
Liminal Space Plant Ally
What is Ledum? If you missed Part 1 on this powerful plant, be sure to go back and learn more about this beautiful essential oil from the rhododendron family!
Liminal Space
Liminal space is the place of the in-between. It’s the threshold of the doorway—neither completely inside, nor completely outside. Liminal space is transition—it’s the platform at the train station, the place of pause between Point A and Point B. It is the passageway between our conscious mind and our subconscious shadow. It is transformation, a middle place of remaking that straddles who you used to be and who you will become.
So much of ledum is an expression of liminal space. It thrives in bogs of the boreal forests, a formation of nature that is neither completely land nor completely water. The boreal forests themselves are liminal, a borderland between the Arctic ice and temperate woodlands.
They are a place where fire and ice collide. Plants of the boreal have adapted to the deepest winter chill, and yet this ecosystem also demands fire; cones of the jack pine are sealed with resin that will not open until touched by flame.
Ledum is your ally for all energetic work in liminality.
Dream space is liminal. Some consider the dream to be the threshold between the conscious and the unconscious. I call it the space between human self and the highest self, a space where information can flow freely between your body and your soul.
Channeling, mediumship, and astral travel are all practices that involve liminal space. The threshold between the physical world and the spiritual world is activated. The first time I put ledum in my diffuser, my third eye was thrumming within fifteen minutes. My spiritual body loves this oil.
Liminal space is the rich soil between our ego mind and our unconscious; the light of identity is weak here, and the shroud of total unconscious is softened. It is within this space where shadows can be excavated for healing. This is where soul retrievals can take place and where traumas can be released and transmuted.
Ledum is here to support you in all your liminal weavings. Put a dab on your third eye as an ally into the threshold realms of shadow and spirit. Use its scent to ease you through metamorphosis, transformation, and healing. Ask it to help you tap into your psychic abilities or to better access the wisdom in your dreams.
Do you have ledum oil in your collection? What do you like to use it for? Let me know in the comments!
